Danish youngster Holger Rune pulled one back in the French Open to defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas in a 7-5 3-6 6-3 6-4.

As a result of this victory, Rune, who is ranked 40th in the world, became the first Danish to reach the

quarterfinals at Roland Garros, where he will face Norwegian Casper Ruud.

According to the ATP tour, the 19-year-old former winner of the small French Open is also the first Danish to

reach the fourth round of the Grand Slam Championship Jan Leschly in 1967.

"I'm fine now," Rune said in a court interview after Monday's game. "At the end of the day, I was very scared,

but the crowd looked good to me during the game, during the competition."

He narrowly won his first match against last year's runners-up Tsitsipas more than an hour before the

Greeks rallied 4: 3 in the second. Rune took the lead through the middle of the third

and fourth and took a 5-2 lead to close the gap.
